Pearl Ng, affectionately known as Pearly, is a Goldsmiths' Craft and Design Council (GC&DC) award-winning designer, specialising in high-end natural coloured gemstone jewellery.
With decades of experience in New York and Hong Kong, she has worked with some of the world's top gemstones, including the cutters who facet them and the mines where they are found. A GIA Graduate Gemologist and a prolific designer from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Pearl has a unique understanding of the journey a gemstone takes from mine to market.
After establishing her brand in Hong Kong in 2005, she relocated to the UK in 2020, choosing the serene southern coast of Brighton and Hove as her new base. Here, she custom built a garden studio at her seaside residence. Her work is lovingly made in collaboration with specialised artisans and experienced goldsmiths in Hatton Garden and Southeast UK.
Pearl approaches her creations with the precision of a symphony conductor, collaborating with top professionals in each field to realise her visions. Her dedication to sourcing the finest gemstones has taken her from the remote mines of Sri Lanka and East Africa to the depths of the Colombian jungle. Working closely with legendary gem cutters in Bangkok and Idar-Oberstein, her work showcases only the finest gems. Her hands-on experience with miners and their communities ensures true ethical sourcing and sustainability. Beyond her personal commitments, Pearl serves as an ICA Board Director and is an active member of the trade, staying at the forefront of industry developments.
Fabulous jewellery is the driving force behind Pearl's work. Collaborating with highly skilled artisans and overseeing every step of the process allows her incredible freedom in design. Her pieces reflect a deep passion for gems and jewels, with bold, sculptural qualities befitting of their high jewellery status. Fluid in form, proportion, and geometry, and with a nod to vintage cool, her exquisitely detailed work embodies a soulful dimension that honours Mother Nature and celebrates gems as the true rockstars.
